What is a Catchbox?
It is world’s first wireless microphone built for audience use. It can be moved around collaboratively by passing or even throwing since it has a soft outer cover.
How does Catchbox differ from a normal mic?
Catchbox brings a completely new angle to the way conversations are organized using microphones. Adding a ‘game feature’’ to the Questions&Answers part of the meeting helps to ‘break the ice’ and can also lead to innovative discussion setups. Several perspectives can now be heard in unison and in succession due to the easy and random way to pass the Catchbox. Only imagination is the limit.
Where can I use it?
The Catchbox has been successfully used in different types of events including conferences in large venues, lectures and teaching events, as well as smaller audiences like team building sessions and management meetings.
Is Catchbox safe to use?
Safety has been no.1 priority while designing the Catchbox. The cover is soft like a sofa cushion or soft football. Still it may hurt if thrown extremely hard at someone’s face or head and hence use of common sense is necessary when passing the Catchbox. Furthermore, watch out for coffee cups and precious items like electronics and eyeglasses.
What if I can’t throw or catch?
Catchbox works well also when passed directly hand to hand.
Will Catchbox make a loud noise when I drop it on the floor?
No. Catchbox senses when it is in the air and shuts down the audio signal before the impact.
Are there any limitations using Catchbox?
We recommend to be very careful passing Catchbox around when drinks or snacks are served as well as when they are using fragile electronic equipment.
How large audience is best for using Catchbox
There is no lower limit for using the Catchbox. When having a meeting with small group Catchbox can be used as a token for giving turns to speak. If your audience is 200 people or more, consider using two Catchboxes at the same time.
Why is it shaped like a cube?
Cube is the most practical yet simple shape that can be easily thrown, caught and visible when flying in air. Its simplicity adds to the attractiveness of the product

Will Catchbox work with my audio system?
Catchbox can be used with every professional audio system. Catchbox comes with a receiver which feeds the audio signal to the amplifier or mixer board. Industry standard XLR (balanced) and 6.3mm jack (unbalanced) connectors are used.
How long is the battery life?
The Catchbox works with 2 AA batteries lasting up to 6 hours.
What is the range?
The communication range between the Catchbox and its receiver is estimated up to 100m. This range, however, is considered with the Line of Sight (LOS) so audience members, walls, curtains or other objects between the Catchbox and the receiver will greatly affect it.
Which radio frequencies are used?
Frequency allocation is country dependent so there is not one particular answer. However, most countries in the world have similar regulations and we have versions to match most frequency requirements. When requesting your Catchbox please specify the country where it will be used.
Do I need a license to use it?
It depends on the frequency that is used for radio transmission. Please specify the country where the Catchbox will be used and we will come up with the easiest solution for you. Some frequencies (such as several Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) frequency bands) are in worldwide licence-free use.
How can I get my Catchbox?
When can I buy it?
The Catchbox will be available for purchase early 2013. We will also be offering the device for pre-orders at a discounted price in the coming months. The price is not yet decided and will largely depend on audio components and materials selection for the production version.
